The Nobel Peace Prize is a prize giving to people that do things to keep the peace in their country. It was created on 27 November 1895.Committee solicits nominations from thousands. I chosen Laymah Gbowee. She was born in 1972. She was given the award when she was a resident in Liberia. She got the award in the year 2011.Laymah is still alive today(Leymah Gbowee - Biographical).
She shared the award with to other people Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Tawakkol Kerman. Laymah was given the award “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work." Leymah Roberta Gbowee was born in February 1, 1972. She is a Liberian peace activist responsible for leading a women’s peace movement that had brought an end to Second Liberian civil war in 2003.
